A day in the Life of a Teenager

Hello, I am Ashok Algappan, a 9th-grade student at Atlee High School, and mathematics has always been my biggest passion. I derive sheer pleasure from using my mathematical skills to help others understand complex concepts, which hopefully may bring them joy and happiness. At the moment I am a precalculus student, who loves to teach. Since the 7th grade, I have spent my time assisting students as a Flex Mentor, helping them with math. As the days go by, my yearning for both learning and imparting knowledge grows and grows. I am excited to work with you and channel my passion for mathematics into helping others.

Beyond academics, I love to run; I am a competitive runner all year round. Through running, I have made lifelong friendships and gained valuable lessons on commitment and patience, which I apply to my tutoring approach. It taught me that every little bit helps. That mindset has co-evolved with my tutoring statement, as I now consider every step taken, no matter the size, to be very meaningful for the student.

To me, learning equals the ability to solve problems, to make sense of the world, and to understand the material from basic to complex concepts, giving learning itself a real meaning. I wish to provide a comfortable atmosphere where students can freely explore creative and critical thinking. My goal is to look at each student as a complete person, rather than someone who memorizes facts. I will support you and guide you (or your young one) toward math attainment while ensuring that this journey is enjoyable and fruitful.
